The day I spend a grand for a ST, is the day I croak.

I have a street twin with the Al flywheel and have no qualms with it - I would do it over again in a heartbeat. The spec kevlar/kevlar is a very good/nice street/track clutch - I have a friend with one and no problems with that in the car (Drivability wise, etc.) It did wear out abnormally fast, but this may have been to to the aformentioned hub issue, and SPEC warrantied it with a full replacement no charge - I will say their customer service is excellent.
On the other hand I have driven a ceramic spec clutch setup and did not like it at all - it definitely was drivable, etc. but the McLeod Twin disc is much smoother and easier to drive around - plus with the new master it finally gives you some real feel to the clutch pedal (not to mention you can adjust your engagement point).
If you can swing the $$$ I would go for the twin disc. I would pick up one of the new revisions, as the older ones didn't come with the new master and the hub was much thinner, leading to input shaft problems.

injectedss- he runs around 400 motor...with up to a 350 shot at the track. his car is relatively light though(3100-3200), with a 4.11 rear end. He also went through the bad desin of the disks...but since they sent him the new one(free ofcourse), It has held up nicely. Think he said they rate it @ 650 ft lbs or so, but he is well over that on the jug. My stage 2 is good for 450ft lbs and I make 500 on the jug with no problems yet.
well i ordered the SPEC STAGE 5 and it came in today and all i gotta say is.............DAYUM
this **** looks like it means business
solid disc, pp looks great, throwout bearing is some kinda different design! LOOKS REALLY GOOD... now lets see if she can put up with some BIG HP

I had the Stage 3 carbon and it was pretty rough. I couldn't imagine a Stage 4 much less an unsprung Stage 5. The key term here is "unsprung". This means no springs or in our tems no driveability. This will deffinatlly be a race only clutch, not intended for street driving. The thing you said about reving a little higher to try and slip a little on take off, that is what I do with my 3. You won't stand a chance with an unsprung S5. I would try calling SPEC's tech line and asking them what they think you need. I promise they won't say "Stage 5". Oh, and a Street twin is nothing more than an over priced, over weight, alternative to a real clutch. No way I'd buy something that weighs 30 lbs. more than what I had.

... Everyone has their own opinion of what is "daily drivable", and what isn't. I give my stage 4 two thumbs up

yea right that thing was too tame
it wasnt NEARLY as bad as most people said it was! my buddy listened to TOO MANY of the wrong people and he got the hotcam at the same time i got my 306 and we put my 306 in first and he thought it was bad ***.. then we put his hotcam in and boy was he DISSAPOINTED
all that work for a pile of crap cam
right now im running a 242/248 and i couldnt love it more
like u said most people blow whats streetable outa proportion
well i got it in and well
DAYUM this thing DOES mean BUSINESS
i think i might have been wrong on this choice! this clutch is PRETTY NASTY... it makes some kind of screecing sound when i release it to go! it only does it when im in gear.. when im in neutral i can push the clutch in and out and it sounds fine! but when i put it in first and start to let it out theres like a qreccccchhhhh and then it jerks and its fine after that
it does it a lil in second and barely in third
is this just how the disc is

It'll make that noise if you're trying to slip it. At least, mine does as well as a stage 3 ceramic pucked car I've driven. Be a little quicker on the clutch release and it oughtta be quiet.
