S.P.E.C Stage 5 =O DAYUM!!!
i drove a SPEC stage 3 in an LS1 one time and it was VERY grabby. i killed it more times than i got it going... definitely not a clutch id ever want in my car.
never heard of a SPEC stage 4.. did they go from stage 3 to stage 5 or what?

an LS1 will have trouble with a Spec clutch cuz it has no power at all down low, I can just imagine how that must feel, i"m going Spec Stage III carbon on my car & sold the Mcleod Street Twin, I must admit, the Mcleod is an awesome clutch, I just wanted the Spec cuz with this setup you can lots of stuff like light weight flywheels, different disks, & the clutch pedal isn't harsh like the Mcleod, if you do get a Mcleod, see if you can match up the LT4 PP with the lightweight 39 holes drilled into it to eaze up the pedal.
I have a Spec Stage 4 in my car... And it's daily driven.
Clutch engagement isn't bad at all, as long as you don't sit in bumper to bumper traffic. Once this thing gets hot it gets really grabby. But yea, it is either "on" or "off". Just have to be smooth with it and it's a-ok.
I'm running the ceramic solid hubbed disk BTW. Spec clutches have always worked well for me

Second, it includes a new billet master and a new flywheel. Third, it's proven and very few people regret buying one. But if you are one of those people who like to run race parts on the street and put down others who don't like to lose drivability on the street, then this is the perfect setup for you!!

I agree with you 100% except for the chatter. My buddies T56 chatters up a storm when you engauge the clutch. The clutch is amazing but it's not really a street clutch. I wouldn't mind it in everyday driving, but some might.

I have a SPEC stage 3 ceramic and so far so good. The clutch has some awsome grab to it I don't like getting caught in stop and go traffic because like was posted before gets very grabby when hot but still very streetable.

How long has your buddy had the steel ST? That's what I've got and while it chattered for the first 1000 miles or so, it's absolutely smooth on the engagement now. I think that's relatively common with the ST. You just have to be a little patient on the break-in. Now my friend's old SPEC Stage 3 -- that thing chattered chronically...at least until the disk blew apart on a 1-2 shift and took out the bell housing, parts of the tranny case, the slave cylinder, the hydraulic lines, etc. Yeah...SPEC's really save you LOTS of money. Needless to say, he's seen the light and has a ST now.

.Supposedly the newer model spec clutches have been revised - they come w/ a blue pressure plate. Anyways, I haven't heard of any eploding clutches recently
. Sorry to hear about your friend's, but mine has done me well. Lasts nicely through 6k rpm clutch drops

I run a spec stage 2 kevlar in mine and I love it...but a friend of mine has the stage 4 in his Mustang daily driver(6.3's in the 1/8th) and it hardly feels any different from my stage 2....I think that once you get to the "DAMN this **** grabs" stage the main difference is the power handling.
The day I spend a grand for a ST, is the day I croak.
