I dunno this could be a mental thing but i changed the stat in my car again and got a lilttle coolant on the opti-spark. I was freakin out thinkin I messed my car up. Car starts ,runs, and idles fine but Driving it around town it didnt seem to be as quick as it usually is. Froma 40 mph roll I floored it and it pulled pretty good but i jus didnt seem to pull as hard as it usually does. Then pulling into my neighbor hood i tappd the gas from like a 10 mph roll and it busted the tires loose and all felt normal. Im gonna let the car sit overnight just to make sure everything is ok but would getting the opti-wet make the car lose power but run fine?

 

did you just now switch to a 160 stat? if you haven't reprogrammed for the lower temp, it will make your car run very rich. which in turn will slow it down. a lil water won't hurt the opti. constant leaking from a bad water pump will ruin the opti.

 

This is my second 160 stat and I have had it programed for the stat.I think its all in my head . But just out of curiosity do you guys feel your car is faster when you go from a roll to WOT or from a stop to WOT?

 

mine feels a lil doggy down on the low end, like from a stop to a nice easy go. but i know thats b/c its pig rich on that end. Still working on tuning that out. From about 20mph roll, the front end raises up and i'm pinned to my seat. but this is also a stick shift. i've never ridden in an auto z.

 

I haven't heard that you have to get you car reprogramed for a 160 stat or else it will cause it to run rich. Can you explain why this is? I have heard that you have to reprogram you car so that fans will turn on to make full use of you 160 stat. And to you 94tealz it is probably just in your head. I think that all the time. But i will know for sure when i get my car dynoed on the 3rd of next month.
