running warmer than normal

I recently (couple of weeks ago) completed the rebuild of my LT1 and before the rebuild the temp gauge rarely ran more than just over 210 now with the new mods the temp rides around the next mark (230?) before the fans kick on, then just below that mark. My fans were tuned at 205/215. My question is could the heads be running that much hotter than the temp sensor on the wp reads for the pcm? And if I change my thermostat to a 160 will this help lower the temp?

Mods in sig on the 84 - things that changed are heads, cam, intake, tb, injectors and of course new tune.

Also both sensors have been changed, and I am still using the same temp gauge as before.

What stat are you running? Is your coolant mix correct?

I would definitley put in a 160 thermo, and flush your radiator/block at the same time. Start there.

I think it has the stock 195? stat in it. Mix is fine.

ordered a 160 (hoping that will help), radiator and block have both been flushed in the rebuild

Did you put the front spoiler back on? I once left it off after a cam/heads change because I knew I would be back under the car shortly, and it ran much hotter without the spoiler.

The lower stat would be a good idea. I assumed since you changed the fan temps that you had the stat replaced and had it tuned for that.
