Running Rich Please Help!

I’m getting a little black smoke from my tail pipes when I accelerate hard. Friend tells me the car is running rich. What’s the best fix for this problem? I recently had a tune up done, wires & platinum plugs installed but it is still smoking a little.

Thanks,

Check your O2 sensors and maybe for an exhaust leak. Other possible causes are with the ignition componets, or the ignition itself.

No exhaust leaks just had that checked. I'll need to check the o2 sensor though. Would it make sence to get a hypertech programer and tune it based on that?

Dude, it's normal. It is a sign of running rich. Our computers richen up the mixture to "protect" the engine of getting too hot. Don't worry aboutit.
