running hot after head install - HELP
running hot after head install - HELP
ok used to run about 185 before i pulled the heads. now around town its getting to 225 and on the highway it will reach 240. i am running no thermostat, and a csr water pump. im not leaking any water and both the oil and water look fine. what i'm wondering is about the felpro head gaskets i used. the coolant ports on the block/heads are a lot bigger than the little pencil-sized holes in the gaskets, so its like the gaskets are not allowing the full amount of flow. is this normal? why wouldnt they be bigger(the size of the actual ports)? i thought maybe this would decrease the flow coming from the steam pipe into the radiator, but its normal, just like it used to be. a couple other people told me possible vacuum leak and maybe one/some of the coolant passageways got blocked from debris and i should flush the block and radiator. please help!
Re: running hot after head install - HELP
is the only way to know for sure to use the bleeder screw(s)? i elininated the one on the hose going to the heater core, but the one on the pump housing is still there. i opened it but water was flowing out. is there a better way to bleed it than i may be doing?
Re: running hot after head install - HELP
man #1 you really need to put put ur stat back in. old timers say no stat. u can do that but trust me youll be puttin new h-gaskets or heads on it again. try an analog guage between the pump and block and c what u got ther.
