Re: header questions

What it mainly boils down to is emissions... Shorty headers will allow you to retain your stock y-pipe and keep your catalysts in their stock locations as well as maintaining the AIR and EGR fittings. However, they will not flow as well as long tubes thus sacrificing power. The long tubes will give you the best gains, but because of their design, you cannot reuse your stock y-pipe and you will need an off-road y-pipe which will relocate the cats creating potential emissions regulations issues.

Re: header questions

all depends on how strict your e-checks are. If you dont have any like myself... you can run a straight pacesetter longtube -ORY - hooker catback setup.

It is true that you can get Pacesetter long tubes with emissions fittings, but the catted y-pipe only applies to the LS1 cars, not the LT1s. The floorpan on the LS1 f-bodies is different allowing them to run catalysts alot easier then on the LT1s.
