Running a bit hot.
Just bought this camaro, and noticed once hot while driving, it sits a little hot (half mass) or a bit lower, then i relized i got a problem when sitting in a drive threw for 10 minutes when it shot up to a bit over 3/4s. My other camaro never gets this hot, so just seeing what you all think before i take it to a shop. Fluid levels are good, think the fan motor might have gone out, so if not that, could it be the thermistat if while driving on the freeway the temp levels are good?
Re: Running a bit hot.
Okay well the fans do not go on. I checked them and the both do work, i also checked the relays and fuses and there all good, go what do you guys think could be causing the fans not to go on?? This was the first time i drove where it was able to idle while hot, but also wasnt notice at all to be even running warm, and i did change the power window motor yesterday, is there anything i could have done while doing that????
Re: Running a bit hot.
FYI: The power window motor has absolutely nothing to do with the engine.
I would check the sensor in the water pump. Also check the wires coming from the sensor. My wires were all chewed up and had to replace them. Dealer ended up ruining my wires anyways so I put in a manual fan switch. The how-to I put together (if you can follow it
) is in my sig. You could also hook up an Ohm meter to the sensor to make sure it is giving the correct ohms at a given temp. The temp sensor in the driver's side head is for the temp gauge inside the car, has nothing to do with turning the fans on.

Re: Running a bit hot.
FYI- noticed the fuse for power windows is also connected to the coolant level latching module. And sense im now having problems with my cooling system, thought maybe there could of been a connection. And after doing a little diging, looks like theres a good chance its the coolant temp sensor,so i started a new thread looking for it cause this thread so far hasnt really got me anywhere lol. ps thanks for the advice, but i dont really want to have to worry about turning on and off the fan, id rather just fix the problem. Not work around it.
Re: Running a bit hot.
The engine will heat up when you are not moving. The fans should eventually come on and cool it down. It is normal for the gauge to go up as the fans don't come on until 226°. Listen/watch that the fans actually come on.
Don't be concerned about anything with the level sensor unless you are low on coolant. That sensor has nothing to do with turning on the fans.
