running at 195 degrees constantly

I just got my water temp guage in and it says the same temp, but im just now noticing just what that temp is, and my car is always running at 195. I have a 160 stat, the fans are constantly on (programming needs to be changed), and Ive checked the coolant and bled it. Could it possibly be I need a new stat? I dont like it, I know its retarding the hell out of my timing.

You're sure it's a 160º 'stat?

Checked for radiator obstructions?

I doubt you are getting any timing issues at 195º. That is still fairly low.

Well, Im going to put a buddys 160 in, so I know for sure that its not that. Ive changed the stat several times to get some better heat, and Im not positive I have the right one in. If not that I know there is no obstructions in the coolant, so I dont know what the prob is, might it be something in the igniton, like spark knock or something, firing before the fuel is in there, it also seems a little more sluggish than usual, but I might just be getting used to the new speed still.
