rr's too tight? or cam just make more valvetrain noise?

I just installed the cam and been driving it around, I think I hear a tapping pushrod, so I am about to go take off the valvecovers and readjust my rrs... I was hoping there was no way dmg could be done, they are new comp r lifters, and xe 230/236 112, on 3 month old 1.6 cc pro mags, hardened pushrods, guideplates... anyone think I messed anything up? if so what? I road about 50 or so miles on it like that.

thanks,
Eddy

I know installing a cam increases valvetrain noise...but not enough to be able to hear it i dont think. Check the rr's....

I have the CC Pro Mags as well and I had the GM self aligning ones before that and I think the CC's make more noise. If you had the valves too tight you'd know it, as high rpm performance would suffer greatly. In an attempt I tightened mine up to a little more than a 1/2 turn past zero and it was too tight and the engine would flutter at @6k and didn't want to rev any higher. I backed them off to what Comp reccomends for the 'R' lifters (1/8 past zero lash) and the flutter was gone.

Can you hear them(CC Pro Mags) standing next to the car with the hood closed?

Also, I thought the self aligning rockers were supposed to be louder than NSA's, but you're saying the opposite. I guess it depends on manufacturer? Are your CC Pro Mags non-self aligning?

Yes I can. I thought that as well, but IMHO the CC ProMags are a bit louder than the SA RR's, but I'm not sure if the noise is due to the pro mags or the Comp 'R' lifters that I put in at the same time. Reccomended lash is only 1/8 turn past zero.
