RPM/Shift Problem

Hey my name is Rob i am new here and i have a problem with my 1996 Trans am WS6 A4 it only has 62,000km on it and when i go past 4000 RPM it slips out of gear or won't shift i will be driving and it will shift fine threw 2nd 3rd whatever gear its in before 4000 but eather if i punch it or go slower threw the gears, when it hits 4000 it will not shift its almost like it gives up but only at that point never at any other time. I have headers, Cat-back and a few little things not much i thot eather the Computer or Tranny but im not on expert the car is babied always has been i have not gotten it scanned yet i have only had it a month or two before it had to be packed away for the winter i hope you guys can help.

Sounds like you need a tranny rebuild.. I would check your trans fluid first though, Low fluid can cause slipping. Check it on level surface, engine warmed up and idling.

Could the trans fluid do that, and could it be the PCM?
