RPM Question, My thoughts, long post.
This is kind of a long post and most of it should probably be in the lounge…but oh well. First the question….what RPM are you guys with just bolt-ons shifting at? Here’s the reason for the question and the start of my long speech. I bought my 93Z about three months ago. It was totally stock as far as I know. It has 75,000 miles on it. When I first got the car it would pull hard to about 5500rpm and that’s about all she had. I added all the bolt-ons listed below plus new plugs, wires, and O2 sensors…WOW!! I try to shift now at 6000-6200 but it raps so quick and is still pulling hard at those rpm she goes to 6500 some times. Now I am an older dude so my reaction speed isn’t what it use be. I also have some experience driving performance cars. I’ve been away from it for about 15 years but I have owned the following: 1970Chevelle SS LS6 454, 1969 Z28 DZ302 car, 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T 440, 1969 AMC AMX 390. All of those with were sticks…. I like to shift what can I say…..anyway, I am amazed at how the 4th gen cars run. I wish there was a track near by so I could see what kind of times my car would run. I do know that it would run with and probably ahead of all those I mentioned above. For all you youngsters out there…. back in the day when there was vinyl records…. Queens 45 with Bohemian Rhapsody on it…. had a great flip side song called “I’m in love with my car”. I guess that’s the best way to describe my rekindled fire. Once a gear head ALWAYS a gear head…..and proud of it!!!!
Dont you have a rev limiter?I usaually shift at 5500 or so,I am too good at destroying things.

We're not getting older...we're getting better. I relate to what you said and feel. My '96 IMP SS is quicker than my then-new '64 GTO that I bought about my 21st birthday. My basically stock C5 is a ton quicker than that.
As far as shift points, IMO your mods don't indicate much over 6000 optimum shift point to me, but revs are fun, I know.
You could run a controlled test for shift points on the highway. That's been detailed before if you are interested.
Reaction speed: I leave on the first yellow, and am considering leaving when the last stage light comes on!
I never got into Queen, but the lyrics are interesting...
Told my girl I'll have to forget her
Rather buy me a new carburettor
So she made tracks saying this is the end now
Cars don't talk back they're just four wheeled friends now

Well, as far as I know, cam and springs will determine how far u can go in RPM. Stock springs, I think wan't like more than 6000RPM. Stock cam will not give you any gain beyond 6000RPM. But, I am not sure when valve float will happen on stock springs. I've see some Z guy's revving close to 7000 on stock springs with RPM limiter removed and with a cam. I think they will break something one day.
I have rev limiter on my Accel 300+ ignition set to 6500RPM. My A4 shifts at 6250RPM with the transgo shift kit but I had the springs replaced with Head Job by TPiS.
