Royal Purple?

Need input here.
About 3 months ago, I went to the auto store to buy oil and I decided to put royal purple. I threw a case on the counter and the guy looks at me funny and asks what am I putting this in?
I tell him a 95Z. He asks how many miles, I say 88,000. He says woah, I wouldent do that. He goes on to explain that everyone that works there (Napa) has tried RP and everyone has gotten oil leaks after a month or so of using it. He says that the synthetic acts like a detergent and causes leaks when it cleans and if the car has more than 15 or 20,000, it shouldent be used.
Hmmm, Im no expert by a long shot ,but I have been working on cars for over 16 years now, and never knew a synthetic to act like a detergent. So about a month ago at the track, I meet a kid with a 95Z and he says he uses RP. He has 125,000 on the car and said he has been using it for almost a year now with no leaks at all. Hmmmm. WTF?

Any experiences here?

If I cannot use it, then I will just have to wait until I build the next car. Got a 15,000 mile LS1, 4L60, puter, new harness (under hood) steering column, interior, rear end, etc.. basically a whole 99Z minus the body sitting in the shop waiting on a donor car.
Any body have a theft recovery 99-02 Z they wanna sell??

every oil has detergents in it to clean your engine.......some oils are harsher than others, but they should pretty much all be fine to run in your car................i doubt the detergents themselves cause any leaks...........however they might make a leak become visible, because the previous oil was just clogging it up.

i run royal purple with no probs on 80k. never burns a drop.

If you don't have any leaks to begin with I would go ahead and use it. If you do have leaks they will be worse because the molecules in a synthetic are 3 times smaller than regular oil. It won't hurt anything either way.
