I took a rat tail file and opened up the stock loom, still a PITA!!! I'm now running Accel 9000's (8mm) in the stock location and I like them much better. Next wire change I'm going to route the wires below the power steering pump instead of the stock location. They will reach fine and avoid all the moving parts.

Anyone have pictures of OTVC wires not going in the stock location under the PS pump? I'd like to see how you routed them.

I just ran them two days ago, msd 8.5. with headers.
NOTE none were ran threw stock looms
run 5 and 7 threw the motor mount, right next to the block
Run all passenger side threw a small hole btwn power stearing pump bracket and head, dont go around bracket like stock, and dont go above like on over the vavle cover style.
2 is a direct conect
4 run up threw the motor mount to keep off header
6 run towards back of motor then down threw the motor mount then go around the back then up to 6
8 do the same a 6
You might use the oil dip stick and zip tye a couple wires to it to keep off header
5,7 use as short of wires as possiable
6,8 use the longest you have
good luck

Good luck with those MSD wires. I installed a set when I put on headers and a week later ended up with 3 burned boots. After replacing them a second time and re-routing them, they burned up again. I then installed the Taylor OTVC set from Thunder Performance and have had no problems with them. I ran the passenger sider wires to the right of the alternator/ PS pump bracket and everything is out of the way.

I have MSD 8.5s and just installed SLP Headers. I had ordered OVC wire looms then realized they too short for that. After some creative routing I got it to work, I anticipate burning wires. So, I already ordered some Taylor Universals to use with the OVC looms.

I have headers and the MSD 8.5's and have not burnt a single one. the key is to just take your time and use common sense when routing them. good luck

Besides some well placed ty wraps to keep them from burning or ripped up you can use the exhaust sleeves I beleieve taylor makes they can lay right on the header and it wont burn.

I have MSD 8.5 MM wires on mine with MAC headers. I ran all last season with them, and never had a burnt wire They are ran in some of the stock looms. My number 7 wire is ran through the factory metal channel. Numbers 3 and 5 are in the factory looms on the block. Numbers 1, 3, 5 and 7 are wire tied together when they make the turn at the front of the block to go into the opti. If you do wire tie any together, make sure yo seperate the wires with ties ran parrelel to them, between them. My number 4, 6, and 8 wires are in the factory looms on the block.

what he said.....do u think u can just get sleeves or like somthing that can stand extreme heat and just rap ur wire so the dont get burned....im replacing my plug and wires w/factory ones when i do my headers.. soo u think this could be worth the trouble.

I too have MSD 8.5s run without OVC and Hooker LTs, routing is the key, after some creative routing I have 7 or 8 thousand miles on them and they are still perfect.
