roller rockers?

i have pretty much a stock motor with lots of bolt ons and exhaust. but im going to piece it together a little at a time. i was thinking about some decently priced roller rockers.

would this be a decent gain?

or will my motor kill itself cause i have 93K miles?

Some stock ratio full roller rockers would not hurt anything. However, you could get a little performance boost with some 1.6 ratio rockers .You would want to change the valve springs along with installing the 1.6s.

Just curious, how important is it to change the valve springs as well? I've never changed springs on an lt1 while the heads are still on the car, but I have done it on older sbc, and it was a pain in the *** for me. Could someone get by on the factory springs until they decided to install cam/heads in the future?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH, HAHAHAHAHA. Sorry.

93,000miles is nothing on a decently kept LT1. I put a cam in mine when it had over 165,000miles on it. So i think you will be fine doing just rockers @ 93k, however you will need some stronger valve springs.

People have done it on the stock springs, but its not worth the risk of a engine IMO. If your not going to change the springs then just hold out till you deside to do the heads/cam, just a cam, or what ever you deside to do. I just dont think risking the engine is worth 7-12rwhp.

I wouldn't chance the valve springs.. especially considering you can get a set of LT4 springs that will complement the rockers perfectly for around or under 40 dollars.

Do you have to fill the cylinder with compressed air to keep the valves closed, or ca you do it with the piston at TDC?

Changing the valvesprings is easy. Spark plugs are the biatch.

I did mine by getting the pistons to TDC.

Getting the pistons at TDC is probably the easiest method versus trying to fit the spark plug fitting tool for the compressed air in the crammed LT1 engine bay.
