roller rocker question
jus bought a 96 lt1 with roller rockers and they need 2 b adjusted but dnt no wat kind they r.wats a good way 2 find out wat brand they r if the previous owner doesnt no
Re: roller rocker question
well you really don't need to know what kind they are to adjust them, most likely they will have polylocks which need an open ended wrench and allen wrench, you'll see when you get the valve cover off.

Re: roller rocker question
How do you know they need to be adjusted? Just wondering. There's two ways you can do it. One with the engine running and slowly tightening the locks until the clicking just stops. Or have the engine not running, and spin the pushrod with your fingers until you just feel drag. Both ways need another 1/8-1/4 turn after the clicking or you feel drag.
Re: roller rocker question
I Know They Ned 2 B Cuz I Can Hear Them Clicking Really Bad.not So Much Just Idling Or At Low Rpms But Much Mor Wen The Engin Winds Up.had Other Ppl Listen And They Said Sam Also
Re: roller rocker question
So I Basicly Tak Covers Off And Tightn Down.does It Matter If I Keep It Tighter Or Looser.cuz I No With Valve Springs If U Keep Dem At There Tightest Spec It Performs Beter.r Rooler Rockers Lik That 2
Re: roller rocker question
You can only tighten them so much. After a certain point it becomes bad. Too loose and that's bad also. Like I said, tighten them either till the clicking stops when the engine is running, or spin the pushrod with your fingers until it barely starts to drag on the rocker arm when the engine is not running. Either way you do it, you'll need to turn it another 1/8-1/4 turn to set the preload.
Re: roller rocker question
Yea sounds good, but you might want to mention that when adjusting each rocker to make sure it is on the base circle of the cam (that the valve is closed) If you have never done it before i would say to do it the hot way, it is a little dirty but works fairly well and you can hear when it is set to zero lash with the lifters pumped up.
