A while ago I started planning on upgrading to stainless rockers just for pice of mind. I dont know if it was a hunch or what. I just felt uneasy about the current rockers on the car. Well to my suprise I really got lucky, I pulled the drivers side valve cover today to start the conversion and had a hard time pulling the cover off (odd I thought) then I seen the problem. Number 5 intake rocker spit the bearing out and jammed against the valvecover. The trunnion nearly chewed through the rocker body! These rockers have 14,000 miles on them and one just fell apart. The new rockers have a snap-ring to hold the bearing in, so I dont think it will happen again. I just wanted to let people here know of this potential problem. I got lucky and the bearing stayed together, had it come apart, little hardened needle rollers would have gone throughout the engine.

Well what did you have? What brand? Made out of what kind of material? Your picture isn't working.

 

They were 1.6 ratio crane gold's. Al. self-alighning, for a 3/8 stud.

I'd call crane and get a new set. That should never happen
