Roll bar/cage just because?

Anyone have a roll bar/cage in their car but don't really race, or don't go fast enough in the 1/4 where it's required? Also, how much woul da 4 or 5 point weld in cage cost to get welded in?

Why put up with the aggravation of a cage if you don't need one? Ever try to pick up change or get your wallet out of your pants with a 5-point harness?

I don't know if I'm doing it, I was wondering about what other people did....I plan on slowly building up my car to a pretty decent race car, and in 2 years (or when the engine goes, whichever comes first) I'm gonna put in a 383/396 stroker.....so I'm slowly doing what has to be done for the race car (bigger gears, all the safety stuff, etc) until the engine goes in. Plus I look at pics of cars with cages and think it looks bad azz.

thats too funny as thats what i started doing 2 years ago.. car had just over 95K on it. when it got its first mod a CAI.. then came headers and blah blah blah.. 9", spohn t/a, full hal suspension yada yada yada and now at 143K the pig still run's 12's in bolt on form.. i dont' get it.. But i figure i'll put a cage in w/ those really nice removable side bar's and keep it for a rainy day i have the money now.. and i'm on the fence w/ a turbo/supercharger decision.. who knows..

I figured doing it in a short period of time is tough, so the financial situation is a little better when extended over a few y ears......$400 for suspension here, full exhaust there, mild cam now, more agreesive one in the new motor...finally I'll rebuild the tranny and drop in the engine. So like I said, it's gotta be done at some point.....anyway, anyone else have one for no real reason now?

I'm putting a cage in this year. I don't go fast enouht to require one but I started to run in Heavy Eliminator this season. There are a lot of 10 second cars passing me at the end of the track going by at 130mph. Wow they close on you fast. I'm also set for any power adders down the road (383 stroker. ). Next season Heavy will allow 9 second cars. Even more reason to get the cage.
