Rod Bolt Clearence Issues
Rod Bolt Clearence Issues
I'm having a 355 built with a forged Eagle 3.48 stroke crank, 6.0 H beam rods (with L-19 rod bolts) and custom diamond pistons.
I went to the shop today to watch them put the pistons/rods in and the rod bolts don't clear the block. Is this normal? I was under the impression that a stock stroke wouldn't require clearencing?
Even the non upgraded bolts were contacting the block. My engine builder said that he had never seen that on a stock stroke motor. We checked the crank and it is a 3.48.

Re: Rod Bolt Clearence Issues
They are Eagle H Beam 6.0 with the L-19 upgrade.
I thought it was wierd too, and I was going to be pissed that it was another delay but they deffinately hit. On the up stroke they hit much of the head of the bolt.
What would cause that? Maybe a wierd block? I have a blurry camera phone picture I might post of it.
