Rocker came loose one me...

Noticed a ticking noise when I was driving today.. but didn't think too much of it because my right side header bolts have been lossening up and leaking lately.

So I pick up two friends and start heading downtown.. when all of a sudden, I hear clack, clack, clack, clack. I imediately pulled over and shut her off. Called up a tow truck (wasn't to far from home luckily) And just barely could the truck lift my car. $62.06 to go 4km pfff...

So I get home... and take of the valve cover (passenger side of course, so I had to remove the alternator etc lol figures) And turns out my #1 intake rocker was finger loose

I have no idea how this happend.. all my other rockers were fine. I must have forgot to tighten the poly lock, or maybe not enough? I installed my 1.6 RR at the beginning of the summer and have had plenty of WOT's.

I checked the pushrod and it's not bent, so I got #1 to TDC firing and adjusted it again. Went for a spin and everything seems fine now.

Watch out for those locks guy

You probably did lock them. Its just hit or miss wether or not it takes. I've locked mine and drove it for miles and they were fine. The first time i hit 6k some came loose.

Re: Rocker came loose one me...

Small detail, but that's #2 cylinder[first one, right bank, under alternator]
If you had #1[first cyl drivers side] at TDC, 'firing' when you did the adjustment, you are OK adjusting #2 'intake' valve with it in that position..
Also if #2 was at TDC 'firing' [even if you thought it was #1?]you are OK adjusting either valve on it that position..

I hardly see where the post is 'mean' all I did was bring to his attention it was #2 cyl not #1.. and that can affect the valve adjustment..
