Rocker arms install question

My friend put my rocker arms on awhile ago. There might be slight ticking form one but nothing serious. My problem is, I basically stayed with the same rocker arms( lt4 and Crane Gold 1.6 are the same) yet the exhaust sounds different. It used to sound like a LT4 Hotcammed car. It still sounds somewhat cammed, but it doesn't sound as lopey. Plus, My car traps a few mph lower at that track. ( I used to get 101, last time it got a 98). My manager also says it sounds like my car is off timing.
Do you think they were set wrong? Did he maybe set the rocker arms off TDC( Even though he is sure he got it to TDC. He did have me start the car, then when I tunred it off, he would go adjust them until none of them clicked.)
Sorry for the wrong post and hopefully you guys understand what I'm asking, it is hard to say exactly what I'm talking about.

Sounds like the valve lash may have been set incorrectly. Shoebox has a tutorial on his site.

Correct valve lash is critical to the engine preforming to it's peak potential. Learn how to do it yourself and you'll be able to give youself an ataboy. Or do what I did, and pay a speed shop that knows what their doing.

I was looking for a shop but they all said they couldn't do "major internal engine work". Plus, some shops didn't even know what rocker arms where( needless to say, I won't ever go there again.) One hsop was going to charge 500, but that is alot of money. I'll probably look around again.

Yeah, 500 bucks to do a simple valve lash job is robbery IMO.
