Question rocker arm stud thread sealer

Is it ok to use ARP thread sealer on the rocker arm studs for my intake valves (they break into the intake ports on my ported heads)? I only ask because my head porter used a silicone-type sealer that I'll have to replace when I replace the guideplates and all I have is the ARP stuff.

Thanks,
Rob

That type will seep, I use a liquid teflon based sealer. It seals good and doesnt stick the stud , makes it ok to remove not stuck...lol.

Im going to be replacing one of my rocker arm studs tomorrow, and need to know where to get this thread sealer stuff? Im guessing prolly any auto store?

Also, whats the best way to get off the old one and put on the new one..since its soo long you cant get a socket on there, so I guess jes a plain old wrench?

Ever hear of a deep socket?

Normally, you would use a threadlocker on the studs. I find it kind of odd that the studs on those ported heads break through to the intake ports. I don't know if that is common or not for ported heads, but I wouldn't think it was a good thing (someone can set me straight if my thinking is wrong ).

Yea that should be fine, whatever, so long as there's something there

'box, es normal for a decent port, you've no choice. I've had alot of mediocre stuff show up though that didn't though, so I'm not surprised if most haven't seen stuff break through there .

Yea I got a deep socket, wasnt sure if it was deep enough though..it may be.

So where do you find threadlocker? I dont have ported heads, it kinda confused me when you were talking about that...I think you were talking about the original post. Mine has stock internals, but the nut keeps coming off the stud so im getting a new one.

Thanks. It just seemed odd to me. I suppose you just smooth whatever of the stud is sticking through to conform with the rest of the wall?

So where do you find threadlocker?
Your local auto parts store will have threadlocker. Get the red stuff.

The bottom of the stud isn't really entering into port. When porting, a person will 'break through' exposing the bottom of the(otherwise blind) threaded hole the stud is screwed into.
