1/4 of play in new timing chain, normal?

I got a new timing chain and new cam gear, still factory crank gear, and theres about 1/4 of play, seem normal? I didnt measure how much was in the factory one but it seemed to be about the same.

1/4" on only 1 side of the chain seems pretty normal to me...Now if you had 1/4" on EACH side then that might be a lil loose..

If you believe it is excessive, and the crank gear has little or no wear, an oversize crank gear from cloyes is available.

I figured out what was wrong, once I tightened down the bolts it was tighter, now theres about 1/8" play, still kinda loose, but not to where it seemed like it would jump a tooth. From what I hear most will always be a little on the loose side.
