Rocker arm nuts keep loosing up
Rocker arm nuts keep loosing up
What all could make a rocker arm nut loosen up as long as the set screw is tight. I got the comp cam pro magnum rockers and I dont have any problems until I make a wot run and a few will loosen up, are the comp cam nut just junk or what.

Dude this is what I did with my set up.... with the engine warm and running... I turn the poly lock down till it stops claping.... by hand and gently.... as soon as I feel the spring pressure.. I mark the nut position with a white marker they sell at the auto parts... I forgot whats it called... then using the marking on the nut as a reference point I turn the nut just shy of one quarter turn.... I tighten up the inner lock till its tight... then with a medium size wrench... I just give it a small squeeze to the whole nut and lock combo... I would say about 1/16 of and inch... it wong go much further but it locks everything in place... I havent had one loosened up ... ever /
I hope I answered your question.

Are you saying the nuts are loose or the rocker is loose? I assume that with a loose nut you will get a loose rocker, however if the nut is tight and the rocker is loose, it is most likely due to incorrect adjustment. Just wondered, because I had a simular problem with a bad adjustment problem.

the same thing happend to be, a drivers side rocker was loose because the nut had backed off it got really bad and then the pushrod was just laying there.

Ditto on MetalCase's post. Used this on my current setup and all is well 600 miles and many WOT passes later on the new motor.
We did 1/8 turn past zero lash, snugged the polylock, then tightened the nut and polylock together an additional 1/8 turn for a total of 1/4 turn past zero lash.
