Rocker arm issue
Rocker arm issue
I just replaced the head gaskets on the car. It's. 97 Z28, Still using stock rocker arms.
I have adjusted with engine off, even tried the engine running method. I get to the point its running great and idles smooth, no ticking or funny sounds. Now the issue is after a couple of start ups, it starts to tick and progressively gets worse over a matter of a day. First time I found the rocker arm for cylinder 5 exhaust was just rattling around and not on the pushrod. Readjusted then again only to have the same thing happen.
It's almost like the nut is backing off the stud. Any suggestions as this is driving me crazy.

Re: Rocker arm issue
I am willing to bet the nuts are backing off.. a new set of nuts would be helpfull or just upgrade to 1.6s and NEW springs yes I know I am being a bad influence but you will want them anyway

Re: Rocker arm issue
You should be able to visibly tell if the nut is backing off compared to the others. Is it the same one, every time? If adjustments have been positively been made correctly, other considerations are something wrong with that rocker or lifter.
Re: Rocker arm issue
