Rocker adjustment w/ Morel Lifters

Hey everyone, I searched and searched and I couldnt come up with much other than "Morels lifters kick ***"

I am reassembling my motor with a one off Bret Bauer cam, Morel lifters, comp cam pro mag (1.6 w 7/16" stud). I primed the lifters with oil and I am doing the adjustment. I need to know once the pushrod slack is gone and the pushrod has drag on it when I twist it. How much of a turn is needed before I set the poly lock??

I need to know from people who have done it, not have heard.... Morels are much different peices from stock oem.

Appreciate the insight, thanks!

Ok Bret just emailed me, stating 2/3 of a turn should be more than sufficent and I could probably run a little less (1/2 turn).

Ill keep the post up incase others have another opinion, or could use similar info.

Re: Rocker adjustment w/ Morel Lifters

I just got back from doing the rockers, timing chain cover and oil pan. All went well. Having the cam gear at 12 and the crank at 12 allowed for proper adjustment. I did it to 1/2 turn. All feel great.

Timing chain cover was a cinch with the pan dropped 2 inches and the pan bolts went on easy since the motor was jacked a couple of inches.

Next is the hub, front accessories, intake, and harness. wish me luck!

Re: Rocker adjustment w/ Morel Lifters

I rememmber Bret stating the exact same thing about a year and a half ago on here when I first was reading on these lifters. He said a little past half is more than sufficient. But they would operate well on less, more like a half turn. Also, you might want to consider adjusting them with the motor running. Its the most accurate and easiest way. I strongly reccomend doing themthis way. And its not messy at all if you put cardboard from the edge of the head to the fender while you do it.

Just loosen until they start to make a clacking noise, then tighten until noise is gone. Now go your preload of half a turn. Tighten the allen, then turn it with the wrench to ensure it is tight. This prevents the polylocks from backing off.
