Rim Locks?

When I bought the car, I really didn't check this little detail. I can't find the rim lock for the lug nuts!! How am I going to undo this?!

Re: Rim Locks?

I know someone makes some sort of socket specifically for getting those off without the key. Do you still have that paper with the serial # on it? You could have a new one sent to you.

Other methods aren't so pretty. You can try banging a slightly oversize socket on and using an impact wrench to get them off, but you might destroy sockets, or you can use a cutoff wheel and just go through them- just don't go through the studs...

Or go to a dealership. They usually have keys and will remove the lugs for a small fee. I'm assuming you're talking about the stock lug nuts though.

Re: Rim Locks?

I suggest trying for a couple hrs to remove them with vice grips which will be pretty much like pissing into the wind. Then i would go get my Summit catolog and order the special socket they have to remove locking lug nuts with out a key.

Re: Rim Locks?

just use a cheap socket and beat it on the lug nut with a hammer, but dont expect to get it back off. it does work, if you have 4 sockets to spare
