my 94 t/a is smelling a little rich and it turns over about 10 seconds before it cranks. my ses light is on also. what could cause it?

 

Definiately get it scanned for a code first!
I'd say your injectors are leaking, but that won't trigger a SES light. Take off the rubber intake elbow, open the Throttel Body blades, and "look" for a very strong fuel smell!

Could possibly be ignition related which explains the gas smell as well as the hard start. (coil, opti, etc.)
