Reviving my Z28 after 15 years of being grounded.
Reviving my Z28 after 15 years of being grounded.
Hello,
I'm trying to get my Z28 back up and running after having it sit for 15 years in my garage. Now that I don't have to depend on it to drive me around town I guess now I'm free to make it as radical as I want... and that's exactly what I intend to do. Problem I'm having right now is piecing out my build. Who sells LT1 parts these days? Seems all the old stores are gone or they're all LS now.

Hello,
I'm looking for the works. Gonna need all the forged goodies, crank, rods, hardcore pistons that won't pop under pressure, 4 bolt main kit, all the good stuff to get those front tires off the ground. I have the top end already but the bottom end needs all the TLC.

I'm guessing from your post that you will be doing the rebuild yourself, so for parts I would start with Summit or Jegs. Here is a link to Summit--you need to scroll down to get to the forged parts:https://www.summitracing.com/search/...%2Byear%3A1995
Also, here are a couple of articles detailing the parts they used if you wanted to source parts instead of buying a kit.
Chevy LT1 Engine Build - Power Play (superchevy.com)
Gen II LT1 Engine Build (superchevy.com
For opti replacement go with either Petris or AC Delco. Quite frankly if I were doing it from scratch, I would go ahead and do the 24x conversion and delete the opti.
What top end parts do you already have?
Hope this helps.
