rev kit questions
rev kit questions
I was looking at cams for my TA(mods in sig) and was suggested that a rev kit would help protect the valvetrain to allow me to spin the motor past 6k. Maybe up to 6500-6800 even. Any thoughts, opinions etc.. will be greatly appreciated.
P.S. will the AFR rev kit work with Comp R lifters? Any body know how much the AFR kits cost? Thanks!

If you are going to use a rev-kit the only one that does not put metal shavings in the oil like LR said, is the ISKY Hard Anodized plate kit. We run those in solid roller road race motors that see 2 seasons(40-70 hours) before rebuild and the plates come out looking great. The other option that I have used in the past is to install 2 .015" valve spring shims that will act like a torrington bearing and keep the spring from eating the plate.

I've had good luck with my AFR rev kit assembled to AFR 190 heads. The high lift cam runs the hyd-lifters near the top of the keeper key. Possibly, the rev kit helps to load the lifted and retain it from releasing from the keeper key if valve float occurs. Does any aftermarket supplier make a deeper gm lifter key??? (383/ D1/ CM cam 231/ 240 .531/ .558" lift)
