Reusing intake and head bolts

Should and can we reuse intake and head bolts? My engine has 53K and everything looked to be in good condition. If not should I order stock replacements or something else? ARP makes head studs..what are those?

Thanx

I would advise against reusing head and intake bolts. Their not that expensive and it might save you some trouble in the long run.

I would never reuse factory head bolts. If they don't break, they will stretch. New bolts are about $25.00 from GM (PN:12495499).
If you decide on ARP, they are reusable and still not very expensive.

Good Luck,

Daren

Thanks guys, I will be buying either ARP's (bolts not studs) or stock replacement head/intake bolts from Jason Cromer.

I wouldn't think reusing the intake manifold bolts would be a big deal since they aren't torqued down all that hard and you probably remove and replace your intake more often than your heads.

I would advise against reusing either of them.

I bought new head bolts, but I reused my old intake bolts.

Big mistake...One broke off. Luckily it was the first one on the drivers side and I was able to use an easy out to get it out.

I was barely tightening it at the time.

I won't make that mistake again.
