Replacing the reverse gear syncromesh
Replacing the reverse gear syncromesh
Is this something I would want to try myself? I just removed my T56 for a new clutch and my reverse gear pops out and I am pretty sure its the reverse gear. I also heard that you can flip it over, is this true?
hey i just did mine last year, it was probably my post you read.
yes, it works like a charm, the speedo gear is the only pain, but i can help if you need. putting it back together takes alot of wiggling too!
later,
mike
ps: a real good set of snap ring pliers, those suckers are heavy duty and only about 1 1/4 big.

no, just pulled everything apart and flipped the syncro around, oh and the little plastic thingys on the shifting forks, mine were pretty worn out, i flipped those around, you might want to see if univeral trans on dequindre has some. i'd replace those if you could if not no biggy.
pay attention to everything you take off, note the direction it faces and order things go in, shoebox has a manual you can download on his site for the T56, helps a ton!
make sure you have plenty of clean room to disassemble, lay the parts out in the order you take them off, mostly just common sense.
