Replacing head gasket tips?
Replacing head gasket tips?
I kept fouling my number 6 sparkplug and noticed I had a header leak on that side. I tightened it up but still got black exhuast dust on the heads above the 4 and 6 primaries. I am hoping that replacing the gasket while stop my exhaust leak and keep the sparkplug from fouling out. I unbolted the passenger side header and scraped off the old gasket and went to install it again with the new gasket but it is a PITA. Does anyone have any tips on reinstalling The passenger side header?
Re: Replacing head gasket tips?
For longtubes I typically pull the motor mount bolt out on the passanger side, and jack up the passanger side of the motor a few inches. Slides right in.
I dont think you'd have pulled the header though just to replace the gasket.

I guess that why I keep mine around, shes down to get dirty. I actually did it mysel, though. I stuck a piece of allen wrench (cut aff the L w/bolt cutters) in the head and hung the front of header, then support the rear and start threading. Worked for me. Hope it helps

Thanks. I think I'm going to stop by the hardware store and get a long bolt and cut the head off of it. I'm hoping that if I screw it in and slide the heads onto the stud I can line it up good enough to get some of the other bolts started.
