Replacing the front main seal

Hello, Everyone



I wanted to know if anybody can tell me whats the process and what i have to do to replace the front main seal on my LT1. Also how much it would cost.

From: Kantuckee Yo'
1. Remove fan belt
2. Remove balancer
3. Remove hub
4. Dig the old seal off the timing cover
5. Press new seal into the timing cover

I would charge someone $100 to do it. Might take an hour if nothing bad happens.

ok thanks should i do the rear main seal also since im doing the front?

Not if it isn't leaking. The front is the crank seal. There really isn't a "front main" seal. The transmission and flywheel has to be removed to replace the rear main seal.
