Replaced optispark, runs better

My car used to lose power at random, backfire like crazy on decel, engine braking was significant when letting off the throttle, and idle would start surging at random. Engine startup never had issues. I went ahead and put in a new opti and seal.

Results: Engine startup was rough at first and smoothed out. Idled for 10mins, no surging what so ever. The first couple miles the motor definatly felt sluggish. Battery was disconnected for a week, I think i lost my short term fuel trims. I put on 10 hard miles, and engine power started to feel a little better. No more backfiring! No more hard engine braking when i let off the throttle. Power delivery feels much smoother. The idle had a couple moments where it would drop for a couple seconds, but then come right back to 1K.

One thing i should have done while it was apart was get OVC plug wires. Oh well, budget was tight. I love driving this car, but its definatly a pain in my ***** to work on.

Dude! Nice car....sounds just like mine.

And an Opti issue as well!? NO WAY.

I live up in Rio Rancho and prolly have seen you around. Not too many Red LT1s still on the road around here.

Take care and PM me if you ever wanna rap Camaro stuff or have questions,
Ivan

I had my first opti failure in over 250k miles of 4 different LT1 cars. It's going to cost me about 2500$. Not because of damage... because I decided to replace EVERYTHING while I was at it. haha
