Replaced Opti - Out of time

Hey all. I replaced my original opti with a rebuilt unit about 2 weeks ago. The part failed when I spilled some coolant on it, but the car ran fine for that short time.

Well, I received the Opti I purchased from Jason Chromer yesterday. I put it in and the car spits and pops when you press the gas.

I pulled all the stuff back off, checked the wire order, and pulled the opti to make sure the Opti was installed correctly. It indeed was. The wire order was also correct. So I pushed some of the wires on harder that are on the block (I may have pulled some loose when intalling the opti) and the car seems to be a bit better. It doesn't pop or spit, but it still does have this slight hesitation before it revs when you press the gas.

Before I put this car back together for the 5 th time, I want to make sure there is nothing I am missing. Any clues anyone?

IT gets better. I just went outside to start it and now it cranks, and then when I stop turning the key it starts firing and smoking out the intake.
