replaced ABS module, now when ABS kicks on pedal goes to floor

i replaced my ABS unit tonight to fix my car pulling to the left while braking... well, that problem seems to be drastically reduced if not fixed most of the time unless i hit the brakes hard, but now when i was testing the brakes in an empty parking lot whenever ABS kicked on the brake pedal went to the floor, the ABS attempted to work but wasn't very affective.

is this a case of needing to bleed the ABS unit?

this is how i bled the system:
1) bleed two valves on the ABS unit itself
2) bleed all 4 wheels, going passenger rear, driver rear, passenger front, driver front
3) bleed two valves on the ABS unit again

is this the wrong way to do it? the car was off the whole time.

Well assuming you dont have a tech1/2 to rehome the dump valves in your abs unit .
You should rebleed the car now that you drove it.
It should have cycled the valves by now.
Just rebleed at wheel first & then recheck.

you need to have the system rehomed and then pressure bled

I just recently had to take apart my abs unit because one of the gears controlling the rear brake valve fell off. I ended up taking the whole thing apart and clening it all out.

When I put it back togther I was having the same problems as you. When the abs would kick the pedal would go to the floor. It has been 2 days since then and the abs seems to be getting better and better, almost like it is adjusting itself.

So give it a few days and see if the abs unit corrects itself, if not then you might have to try what preditor's idea.

I also bled the whole system again after driving it for a bit

where did you get a rebuild kit? how much did it cost?

also, did more air come out when you re-bled it?

I diden't rebuild it I just took it apart and cleaned everything, and found that the nut holding one of the gears on had losened off causing my problem.

Yes more air did come out after I bled all of the brakes. It seemed to make the abs work better after I bled them again

so there is really no way you can bleed the ABS module efficiently without taking it to a dealer with a tech1?
