Replace whole EGR system now?

I have almost 100k miles, from what I have read I am going to do EGR at some point since I plan to keep this car until I graduate and am making 6 figures to do a turbo or two . If the EGR goes it seems to cause some bad problem so I think I might replace it now. Has anyone replaced it with the parts from Dal/Sam Taylor on the cheap and how much? I think I want to make this a project to do and I want to see how time consuming it will be. I can see that everything is hidden so a mirror would be needed. Thanks for any tips/experiences.

I heard it helps prevent detonation without robbing power, I would rather replace it new rather than plug it and have my computer reprogrammed to pass emissions in NJ Unless of course plugging it is EZ and getting a program for a stock setup would help

Cheaper to get a performance program, and block it off, then it is to replace it all.

Re: Replace whole EGR system now?

What is "all"? Buy a new EGR valve for $35. You certainly wouldn't replace the corrugated hose, since that never wears out, the solenoids seem to last forever. That leaves you with a couple of vacuum lines that you could replace for pennies.

NJ emissions is a MAJOR PROBLEM. Its MUCH easier to stay stock and be able to pass the visual, than to start removing systems. If they don't catch you at the "regular" inspections station, staffed by people with limited knowledge, you run the risk of getting caught by one of the "mobile" DMV inspection teams, that set up on the side of the road, and pull cars over, subjecting them to a full rolling emissions test AND a full visual by people who are extremely knowledgeable and have all the references available for YOUR car.
