replace piston question

hey, i had a question about replacing the pistons on an lt1. a friend of mine wants to replace the pistons on his corvette (lt1 motor) with forged ones. if i am correct, the crank, pistons, and rods need to be taken out. the crank and the rods should be reconditioned, and then the rotating assembly (rods, crank, forged pistons) need to be balanced. new bearings everywhere, then assemble. i beleive this is correct.

I do not beleive that the pistons can just be "replaced" immediately without any machine work or balancing, but i could be wrong. i was hoping someone could inform me. thanks!

shouldnt the bores at least be honed if not overbored? not sure how the new rings would seal without that
