Question Replace Motor Mounts? Which ones, etc????

A quick question now that I am finally going to purchase the motor mounts for my 1995 z28. First off (okay, two questions, lol):

1. If I buy the motor mount with the brackets, are the brackets easy to get off? Aka, are they rivets or just bolts? I know the "mounts" themselves, like the prothane ones are fairly simple to change, but what about the brackets?

2. Is it even necessary to replace the motor mount brackets if I am experiencing problems with the engine vibrating?

3. (yes, three questions, ha!) What about the prothane mounts? Are they better than the regular ones and do you experience more of a vibration or more of a shake because of them? I have a lot of electrical components in my car, so I don't want it to be hard on them or cause negative effects with the subs and amps.

Sorry, a lot of questions, but I want to buy these tonight. Thanks!

i used the prothane inserts, they were no big deal to do

if i remember correctly it just took a little grinding to pop the old ones out and one side i had to zip tie together to hold it in place until the bolt tightened it down - it came with directions

i cant really answer your question about difference though, i put them in at the same time i did my motor

The bushings are sandwitched inside a clamshell mount. Driver side clamshell bolts to the block, passenger side clamshell bolts to the K-member.

To install poly bushings, you remove the clamshell, grind down a few rivit heads, and centerpunch them out. Plop in the poly bushing and use the supplied bolts where the rivits were, then bolt the clamshell back on and you're done.

Gotcha. Sounds great, but would you suggest replacing the clamshells, then? Also, could anyone tell me if these sellers are for the clamshell, bushings, or both? I can't seem to find the clamshells anywhere. Thanks!

Anyone else know where I can get just the stock OEM brackets/clamshell? I want to put the prothane bushings in them.

Bump!

Haha, TTT abuse? NO! Just nee my question answered, so I'll ask it again:

Where can I buy the clamshell mounts for my 95 z28? Does the rock auto link provided above only supply the mounts, or is there also the clamshells with those?? Maybe I should just call around, but I'm still not sure if replacing the clam shell mounts is necessary. Help?? Thanks guys!

Okay, if that's all I need, that's all I will do. We have a sponsor on the forum that sells motor mounts: http://www.p-s-t.com/pc-3828-18-chev...8-1993-97.aspx

So.....anyone tried them and how do they compare to Prothane? They're a bit cheaper, which appeals to me. But yeah, if they're crap I won't go for them....
