repetitive code

hey, i my 97 TA keeps throwing a p0336 (crank position sensor [for detecting misfires]). well, i wasnt too concerned about this code except for now it pretty consistent. especially comes on within 10 seconds of starting the car. and can usually get it to come on probably every 1 out of 3 starts. now i'm not just limiting it to starts, however, thats when i seem to notice it most. any ideas as to whats causing this and possible fixes?
thanks
dave

have you tried running autotap or any other datalogging software to find out if it's a constant cylinder that's misfiring, or whether the crank sensor needs replacing?

check your wiring harness around the crank sensor, make sure it didn't get nicked or anything, check to make sure it's bolted in tight, if it isn't, maybe pull it, clean it off w/ some brake/electric motor cleaner, make sure it doesn't have anything interfering w/ the signal from the crank trigger, then put it all back together.

i'd almost bet that that is what it probably is (sensors bad or needs to be cleaned). where exactly is the sensor located. i appreciate it.

if you jack the car up and look straight at the motor, it's hanging at the 7 o'clock position under the crank, behind/under the belt tensioner.
