Repair costs on a rear main seal for the engine oil?

Anyone knows how much it is to replace the rear main seal on my engine? I’ve got a small oil leak that is coming out right above my exhaust piping.

I changed my own.....It is less than 20 bucks for the seal itself. Very cheap. To get it done by someone....I am guessing about $300 cause they have to drop your tranny.

Ok, its not a tranny leak, its an actual engine leak...is that what you are talking about? And if it is leaking right above the tubing for the exhaust does that sound like a rear main seal leak? It just started, so it shouldn't wind up to be that big of a deal for a while.

I can't pinpoint where you say it is leaking from your description. If it is the rear main, you would see oil right at the very back, center of the oil pan. You might have to remove a tranny or clutch inspection plate to be able to see it clearly. You could even have the intake leak that is traveling down the back of the engine or a valve cover leak.

Not sure what problem you have but i had a pretty bad leak and i had the valve cover gasket replaced and then the intake manifold issue attended to and i spent about $700-800 total. It was expensive but it's gone. They may have done some work on the main seal also, i dont remember
