Removing The Oil Cooler?!?!?

Removing The Oil Cooler?!?!?

so they romoved the oil cooler from the 96? 97. whats with that? would it be ok to remove? did it just not really do anything or what?

The oil cooler was never standard. In the early years, they threw it in with the "performance tire package" on the M6's and with the "performance axle package" on the A4's. Later on they did away with it completely. In theory, it was used in the F-Body to make up for the fact that the F-Body LT1 didn't come from the factory with synthetic oil like the Corvette LT1's.

The oil cooler was made by Moroso.... at least that's what the one on my engine says. I still use it. Some people claim the lines plug up, but I've never had a problem with it.

Hey, my car came with the oil cooler and i have been reading that they can clog up, should i remove it. How do you do it?

I've read threads in the past where some guys toasted their motor when they did a cam swap because the lube gummed up inside the cooler.

My car didn't seem to run any cooler than other people's cars so I lost mine when I did the 383.
