Removing Intake Manifold?

I plan on removing my intake manifold (to paint it), and have a few questions: How difficult is it? How long will it take? What parts will I need to replace (gaskets, etc)? Are there any special concerns I need to know, or any tricks some of you may have learned? I figure while I'm at it I can clean the EGR out as well (maybe it'll turn that D@mn SES light off).

Make sure you have a fuel dissconnect tool to remove the fuel lines from the fuel rail or you can just take the fuel rail off with the lines attached. Unclip all of the wires and label them. You will just need the intake manifold gaskets and make sure when you put it back on you coat around the oil pressure sending unit good with RTV sealant. Also, I used a lilttle vasoline to slide the injectors back into the intake when re-assembling. Not to hard of a job, if you need any more help or questions shoot me an email or PM. Goodluck!!

Thanks, sounds like I can manage it. I've never really done anything but bolt-ons before. By the way, nice engine bay. Is your intake the LT4, or did you just paint it? If it is the LT4 intake, is it red or an orange-red color? I went looking at paints the other day (VHT engine enamel) and they had red and Chevy orange-red.

You'll also need a gasket for the throttle body.

I painted it red ... Ford Red but when I recently pulled the motor this winter, I did it gloss black (using POR15) this time around (teal and red blah). Yea forgot bout the TB gasket but dont take the TB off the intake and ya wont need one zya
