Removing Engine coolant temperature sensor
Removing Engine coolant temperature sensor
I was replacing my ECT sensor and it will not come out. I do not want to break the sensor off in the the pump. I am using a rachet set. Would a torque wrench work better. Also the water pump is still on the engine any ideas.

Re: Removing Engine coolant temperature sensor
No need to use a torque wrench. That is just used to apply a precise amount of torque to a bolt. Use a breaker bar and a deep well socket. If you don't have a breaker bar, use a length of pipe on the end of the socket wrench. This allows you to apply more torque in a smoother fashion rather than jerk the shorter socket wrench which can cause you to break it off. Hit it with some PB Blaster too, that could help.
Re: Removing Engine coolant temperature sensor
Hey EKO and cmking26 thanks for the ideas. I am going to try the breaker bar or a pipe that will go on the socket wrench. When I was little my father could not get a lug nut of his flat tire so he put a pipe over the lug wrench and bam he got it off
