removing cluster

if i was to take out my cluster and get a fiberglass dash with all autometer gauges in it. will the car run or does it need to see somthing in the cluster? will there be any problems?

People have done it before...may be kind of expensive to run all auto meter. If something didn't work right im sure it could be worked out with lt1 edit or a mail order tune from madz28 or something.

Your car will set a code for not having a service engine light. You could either wire one or you will need the code disabled through programming or else the fans will stay on all the time. Otherwise, you should have no problems.

the hardest part is making the piece the gauges mount in. getting the gauges even, centered, and nice lookin. the rest is just a matter of figurein out which wires from the orig. gauge cluster go to what. Ive been thinkin of doi this myself since I have a full set of phantom gauges sitting here. Im goin to do mine in alum. if I do it.
