removing catalytic converter
I know I could just get a high flow cat, but I dont want to spend the money, and emissions aren't a problem, so is it okay to just have a pipe welded in place of the old cat? I think the filter part inside fell off, so it is just rattling around. Would this make the car louder, but still sound good, or would it have the raspy no muffler kinda sound? Thanks
I recently changed my O.E.M. daul cat Y-pipe for one that had a gutted cat on the Drivers side, and I had replaced the passenger side cat with a straight pipe , and I love the way it sounds !!
It will change your exhaust note / be louder

The only thing that I did'nt especially like was the way it sounds now with the cut-out opened
... but the trade-off more than makes up for it for how it sounds with it closed
It really woke up my B&B Tri-flow system .

Yank the air pump and egr while you're at it. Heh, its great living in a state that does not do emissions testing.
