removing catalytic converter

I know I could just get a high flow cat, but I dont want to spend the money, and emissions aren't a problem, so is it okay to just have a pipe welded in place of the old cat? I think the filter part inside fell off, so it is just rattling around. Would this make the car louder, but still sound good, or would it have the raspy no muffler kinda sound? Thanks

I recently changed my O.E.M. daul cat Y-pipe for one that had a gutted cat on the Drivers side, and I had replaced the passenger side cat with a straight pipe , and I love the way it sounds !! It will change your exhaust note / be louder

Talking gutted cat

My cat is gutted and I love it. Of course the shorties and Borla catback helps a lot.

So it doesn't make it sound raspy, or crappy in any way. I have a magna flow, and it sounds pretty good already, so would it just make it louder, but still sound the same?

Then what are you waiting for?? Yank the air pump and egr while you're at it. Heh, its great living in a state that does not do emissions testing.

The only thing that I did'nt especially like was the way it sounds now with the cut-out opened ... but the trade-off more than makes up for it for how it sounds with it closed It really woke up my B&B Tri-flow system .

Alright, I am definately gonna do it since it is already shot. How much would this cost to have a pipe welded in its place?
