Removed Intake.......

on My next LT1 project motor and couldnt beleive what I found, The entire valley was filled with rocks leaves dirt and other debris However the motor was cleaner than anything Ive worked on before 0 sludge. I was shocked as Ive never seen this before. Any cause for it? Should I assume the bearing are screwed?

Re: Removed Intake.......

Is this a joke? The only way debris like that could have gotten into the lifter valley is someone put it there (or the motor was left outside with intake off) and the intake was put back on. IMO, nothing else in the engine can be trusted.

Re: Removed Intake.......

well if it had all these rocks and dirt and debris then it could not have been run for very long with them in there if at all. I'm sure the motor would be trashed if this stuff was actually found in it.

I cannot figure out how the hell it would have got in there, The motor has 67000 on it out of a 95 caprice, everything was sealed up tight original gaskets, and I heard it run before i bought it? I thought maybe it had no air filter, but then would that stuff get in by the lifters?????

I've seen crazy shyt like that before too. We once took apart a SBC and there was a nest inside the intake. This engine had the air filter on it too but sat for a while. It was all cotton and other crap like a mouse cage. We were like WTF??? All we could think of was that they got in there though the exhaust port and throught the valves.

Yeah but that's in the intake. He said it was in the LIFTER VALLEY.

My money is on you not getting the same motor you heard run. They cleaned up another motor that was sitting around before you came back to pick it up. I bet they didn't give you a warranty of any kind either.
