Just removed the A.I.R. system off a 95 TA. That included the elec. pump, hoses, and the fittings going into the front of both exhaust manifolds.

What is everyone using to plug the threaded hole in the front of each exhaust manifold, now that the AIR system has been removed?

BTW: Removed the fuel tank vapor purge valve and hose (pass. side of engine) too. Anyone else remove that too?

I just plugged mine a few days ago. I have a '97...and after reading different things on this board, I decided to go with drain plugs for the headers. My size was M18. I think earlier year Camaros/Firebirds were M22 size plugs. Do a search about it. You'll probably find more about it. They're not real easy to find either. I ended up going to a specialty nut and bolt place.

Don't know about the purge valve though.

i have headers but i removed the air system too. what i did was i put the air fittings back on but i seperated them first. i seperated them at the middle housing, the black valve looking thing, then i capped it off with a pipe plug from a hardware store.

Thanks for the replies. Never thought about possibly using an oil drain plug.

I was supprised that this car did not have EGR. No valve, no nothing as far as EGR.

Took the TCS off it too. The problem with removing the Traction Control is that you will also loose the Cruise Control due to the way the throttle cables are inter-connected between the two. Requires you to purchase a non-TCS throttle cable since with TCS, there is no cable directly conecting the gas pedal to the throttle body.

I used m22 x 1.5 oil drain plugs. Napa carries them in stock usually

Same here, I used M22 drain plugs.

Not sure what year models are different but on my 96 I used Napa PN 704-1941 drain plug and PN 704-1366 gasket. The drain plug had a magnet on the tip that I had to grind off but otherwise worked great.

Was there a Service Bulletin to remove the Air pump on all LT1 powered vehicles? If so what is involved in the removal, does the PCM need to be reprogrammed and what are the benefits of removing it?

I made mine at a machine shop out of 6 point stock metal, you could have the same done for yours at a local shop fout about $20 total....

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression the air pump delete SB was B-body specific. And because of the extent of their (GM) liability, was limited to 95-96 model years.
