I have a 93' Z28. Car's governor kicks in at 105 when it should be blowing past that . Any wires I can cut or anything to remove this? Thanks alot guys.

 

you can take it off with a hypertech programmer, or www.madz28.com or www.pcmforless.com or www.slp.com they all can take it off from their computer tune ups

 

yep... its all ECM related

 

IF you want, you can wire up a switch to one of the VSS wires that comes off the tranny.

 

They don't have a Hypertech programmer for the 93, but they do have a Hypertech chip for the 93.

 

? 93 is a 4th gen, to my knowledge they still use the OBDII connector with the OBDI computer, which is the same as my car, and i need a hypertech...

 

i have a 94Z28.... isnt it hardwired into mine? or can mine be removed?

 

93 is a Speed Density car... Totally different than OBD1 94-95 models.

 

You need to update your knowledge, the 93 is a Chip/Memcal based setup. Has more in common with the 90-92 3rd gen TPI Cars than with the 94-97 LT1's (we're talking computers here, not engines).

Only 95's have 'OBDI with OBDII connector'.. 94 is OBDI with OBDI connector..and 96-7 are OBDII..[with OBDII connector]

 

my 94 which was built6-94 is obd11 plug with obd1 computer the 93 is chiped

 

my 93' is the same, 115 speedo etc. get the hypertech thermomaster chip. i've had mine for 10 years and it works like a champ. about 15 minutes total to install. very easy. pull your stock chip and replace it with your hypertech one then install your oem on top. i found out about my speed limiter the hard way, racing and winning then losing, very embarrasing. the chip was about $146.

94 needs reprogramming.. no removable chip in it..

 

My 94, as with EVERY 94 has no chip, has OBD1 connector with OBD1 pcm. You really dont get it programmed out, you can just reset it to a speed no fbody has gotten to yet. 255mph. I had mine reset while doing other things in the pcm.
